Marite
2003-07-31

The region of Sweden that the band grew up in, is called Jamtland. At this time of the year a big festival (storsjöyran, or the"great lake party") is held to celebrate this beatiful area of the country. It´s now become the biggest city festival in Sweden. The boys in 220 V played on the opening night of this festival, but not outdoors on the festival itself.

The "national anthem", Jamtlands song, is always sung and praised around this time of year (because of the festival). 220 V wanted to incorporate that in their show, but done properly with a violin. So the violin wizard, and the bands favorite, Kjell-Erik Eriksson from Hoven Droven (www.hovendroven.com) was asked and agreed to help out on a song or two. It turned out that the song "Sauron" seemed appropriate. The Jamtlands song was sneaked in and the whole song was re-arranged for that purpose. Much appreciated by the audience!

Since Kjell-Erik now had turned in to a hard rocking guy, the guys in 220 V wanted him to have a nickname and dubbed him Sir "Kill-Erik". May he live long!!
Another friend of the band, Rob Hellström, helped out with some backing vocals.

What about the rest of the show…well, it was a heavy night and we know the band thought it was magic. The concert was caught on tape and we 've recieved a small "taster" from the show.   Thanks guys.....

220 Volt saved the night

The 80´s hardrock heroes from Östersund had gathered their entire original line-up at Marité, just outside the Storsjöyran festival area, and the least you could say is that they offered some sweaty entertainment. For the first time in 22 years, the people in Östersund got to hear "Electric Power" live and during "Sauron" Kjell-Erik Eriksson from Hoven Droven joined in as a special guest. Hardrock and violin is a damned fine combination and the mixed version of "Sauron" and "Jamtlands song" is something of a classic that only the hundreds attending have experienced.

Frille Nääs has found the right voice and after the sing along part in "Powergames" he became almost sentimental…-You´re the best audience in the world.. Volt classics in all honour, but I personally think that "On top of the world" from the new album "Volume 1" is among the best band has written ever. Judging from the audience at Marité, they seemed to think so aswell.
