220 Volt
will perform at Gamla Teatern in Östersund on Nov 30th. This
is to mark the 20th anniversary of their first ever single "Prisoner
of war" / "Sauron". Gamla Teatern is an old theater
and used to be a regular gig for the band in 1980-1983, so it felt
natural for the band to "play it again".
The
event will be backed up by a releaseparty at O´Leary´s
in Östersund on the 29th of Nov. This will be a public thing
as well, but the band will invite some special guests for some special
treatment. The new album will be played and it´s possible that
some new footage will be shown. Both
shows will feature 4 More Fun as special guests.
We
will get back soon with info on where and how to obtain tickets.
The
new album is coming along nicely and the band is putting the finishing
touches on it right now. They´re hoping to have it in store
about three weeks in advance of the show on Nov 30th. 5 songs have
been recorded and are almost done, we´ll soon have the complete
running order and tracklist and of course it will be posted here.
Lyrics and mp3:s will also be up in a few weeks.

Recordings
are underway for the new album, which will include both studio and
live recordings. Everything has gone well so far but it´s not
finished yet. The title of the album isn't decided yet, but rumours
from a person close to the "Volters" says that it goes under
the working title, "The return of the big Baron". It hasn't
been confirmed from any of them to us at 220Volt.nu though. We'll
get back to you as soon as we know for sure.
Check
back every now and then cause we´ll soon have new gigdates for
the fall and info about the 20th anniversary thing in November.

New
Release New Release New Release
220
Volt has signed a deal with a German internet radiostation, to release
one new song "Don´t come my way" on a new sampler
CD. The radiostation is called Munich´s Hardest Hits and the
album is called "Melodic Rock Is Back Vol 1". It will
be released in the later part of September this year. We will let
you know soon where and when you can find and order your own copy.
At the moment we have little info on what other bands will be featured
on the CD besides 220 Volt.
In
case you wonder anything about the song, all we can say is that
it´s a heavy shuffle with some basic rock n´roll harmonics
to it. Some say it´s a bit like "Airborne fighter"
from the "Powergames" album, but we´d like to think
it´s based more on traditional heavy rock as opposed to heavy
metal. The riff, title and the opening vocal line was grabbed from
a song that the band had as early as 1980 !! It´s been completely
reworked of course, but the intial idea is an old riff. Exciting!
|
2002-07-18
The
band is finishing off some (demo) recordings and if all goes well,
they will have a new product out in November. The idea is to release
a 5 track studio recording and some stuff that´s been recorded
live. More shows will be recorded in the fall and they hope to sneak
some of that in too. Next step is a full album but don´t expect
that until next spring. |
2002-07-11
Now you can participate on this website, check out the new Contacts
and Q & A pages |
220
Volt played Sweden Rock Festival on June 8th 2002. The band were openers
on the "Rock Stage" on Saturday afternoon. The gig was the
beginning of a new phase in the bands history.
The band was thrilled to be in front of a big crowd again, and the
inspiration to write more new songs to present this fall is high,
to say the least. The band would like to thank the wonderful audience
on SRF for making it such a great day !!. This goes for all the people
who came to see the warm-up shows too.
|
| June
7th was spent in Norrköping, Sweden where the band held a clinic
for music students. The band talked about music in general and took
some questions from the students aswell. The clinic was set up by
Mats brother Ulf, who teaches at the school. Many thanks to Ulf !!
Songs performed were: Gypsy Queen, Don´t come my way, Firefall,
White Knight, Electric Power and Black Angel. It was the first clinic
the band ever made, but they enjoyed it and hope to be able to do
it again. |
| May
31st and June 1st saw 220 Volt perform 2 shows in Storuman and Malå
in the north of Sweden. Both shows were taped on video. |
On
May 17th the band performed their first gig in 19 years with this
particular line-up. The band played the Community House in Hackås,
about a half hour drive outside of their hometown Östersund,
Sweden.
The house was packed even though it was a lowkey gig with almost no
marketing whatsoever. Lots of "old" fans turned up, and
there were big smiles all around.
|
| May
9-12, the band rehearsed in Östersund. Now with "Herm"
back on the drums. The final arrangements were decided and recorded
so that the band could have a listen at home before the first gig.
|
|
May
1-4, the band rehearsed again, this time with drummer Björn
Höglund from the band Hoven Droven. Peter "Herm"
Hermansson had a prior engagement and was playing with another band.
Björn had some time off from his regular gig and could help
the Volters out. He´s a great drummer and kind enough to step
in, Thanks Björn !!
